So, what can we expect in the world of design in the coming year?

Here are 7 design trends to keep an eye on for 2023:

What are the design colors for 2023?

In 2023, we’ll be seeing a lot more bold and bright colors being used in both web and graphic design.

Gone are the days of subdued, neutral colors in design.  Enter in the era of bright yellows, pinks and oranges and reds and other bright and bold colors that awaken the senses.

Utilize the contrast between colors to help your brand stand out from the crowd.

This is a great way to make your designs grab the attention of your visitors in 2023.

How can I make my design unique?

Add more personality and style to your design by adding an illustration.

use illustrations in design

Not only does an illustration help to clarify text, but they also add personality and style to any design. They are also a great way to grab attention, as they draw the viewers’ attention to a specific area of the design that may highlight a specific benefit.

We’ll be seeing more use of illustrations in logos, websites, and even in print design.

What is minimalist strategy for 2023?

Simplicity and clean lines are the focus of minimalism when designing in 2023.

Minimalism in Design

The goal is to create designs that are both elegant and easy to understand, allowing the user to understand what they are viewing quickly.

Less is more when it comes to minimalism.

Why is responsive design important in 2023?

A responsive design is one that ensures that your website or app looks great on any device, no matter the size.  After all, you want your design to be viewed in the best way possible regardless if the viewer sees it via a tablet, mobile device, or their desktop.

A responsive design is also easier to manage, as it eliminates the need to maintain different versions of your website for mobile and desktop – saving time, resources and effort.

As with 2022, we will see an ever-increasing use of responsive design in 2023.

What is the best font style for 2023?

Serif fonts are coming back.

This is most likely due to the fact that this typeface family conjures up an emotional response, which continues to resonate across many demographics. Serif typefaces, like Y2K-themed design, undoubtedly appeal to people’s nostalgia for a more primitive time.

Some of the most widely used Serif fonts are Times New Roman, Cambria, and Garamond.

Why is brand storytelling the future of marketing?

Brand storytelling is a great way to engage your audience and promote your brand. It is the narrative that helps to solicit an emotional connection.

Designers will be creating more websites and apps in 2023 that tell a story and help the user understand their brand’s message.

From how a company was founded, to the daily lives of employees at work, more and more brands are sharing how fun it is to work for a company and how hard they work for their customers. Brands will also use merchandise and promotional products to share their brands story in a way that makes a connection tangible and worthwhile to their audience.

We’ll see more brands increase their use of this tactic in their marketing campaigns in 2023.

What is Meme branding in 2023?

Memes are mainstream now, and we expect the use of them to increase in 2023.

For several years, memes have been an essential component of social media interaction. Most of us are members of at least one or two group chats where our friends and acquaintances share “meme dumps” that provide comic relief to current concerns.

This light-hearted and entertaining use of meme’s is the core of why marketing departments love to use them. People like to have fun and use social media as a form of entertainment.  Using memes are a great opportunity for a brand to be a part of people’s lives in a fun and interactive way.

We’ve seen big businesses participate in the world’s meme culture in recent years.  In 2023, we predict that meme culture will not only persist but take a turn for the commercial.  Due to copyright concerns and the need to be unique, companies will start to design their own branded memes with their logos and other recognizable images to increase brand awareness and free marketing when users share them.

However, if you decide to go down this route, be careful not to misstep – stick to lighthearted, non-offensive content to avoid any potential PR disasters.

In 2023, we expect more brands to be bold in their choices of color, utilizing responsive designs with a well thought out minimalist approach that allows them to be clearer and more concise in their message.  Their fun use of meme’s will also pay off in dividends, as their story telling captures and connects with their customers.

These are just a few of the Design trends for that we’ll be seeing more of in 2023. So, keep an eye out for them in the coming year!
